Jul. 30—SALEM — In the pet world, dogs and cats are on top.

But this weekend Northeast Animal Shelter and the MSPCA-Angell want people to think small. After all, there are other pets that are warm and fuzzy, or who can do neat tricks.

On Saturday and Sunday, the shelter will hold an “adoptathon” event by waiving the adoption fee for all small pets, from mice and gerbils to hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits and even birds.

Childhood abuse survivor on a mission to save lives of abused animals, find forever homes

San Ramon; Calif. — A Stockton woman and survivor of child abuse is turning her tragedy into triumph by rescuing animals from abuse and neglect.

Regina Sanchez, founder of Finding a Best Friend Rescue, is on a mission to rehabilitate and find animals a home that they deserve.

Finding a Best Friend Rescue and nonprofit is based in Stockton, but rescues animals from Northern California to Mexico.

The rescue is a foster home-based rescue and depends the kind hearts of volunteers to provide a temporary home for animals in need.

CHICAGO (WLS) — Every animal at Shedd Aquarium has a story, and rescued animals like Cruz the sea lion and Tahoma the red-tailed hawk have found a second chance at life.

“Rescued animals evoke deep empathy in people,” said Peggy Sloan, chief animal operations office. “By meeting the animals here at Shedd, people better understand the influence of humans on nature.”

Veterinary Company Modern Animal Announces $75.5 Million In Raised Capital

Veterinary company Modern Animal, cofounded and spearheaded by Under 30 honoree Steven Eidelman, announced today that it has raised $75.5 million. The funding comes from two (previously unannounced) investments over the past year: a $35.5M Series A led by True Ventures and Addition, and a $40M Series B led by Founders Fund, who also led the Modern Animal’s $13 million seed round in 2019.
