Have you been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family? There’s no time like the present.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services is making all adoptions free because they have run out of space at their south-side shelter, located at 2600 S. Harding St.

“We are basically out of space,” spokesperson Brandi Pahl said. “We have too many animals in our care. We do have temporary kennels set up in our hallways, so we’re looking for people to come and adopt so we can open up some more kennels for animals that continue to come in.”

Though the group generally does not euthanize to free up space, Pahl said, they do occasionally have to “make the tough decisions.”

They’re hosting a special adoption event Saturday at their Harding Street shelter from 1 to 5 p.m. Community members are encouraged to come and adopt a furry friend.
